Hi, I am on income support and my wife wants to be a body shop at home comsultant, which gives her no fixed hours and no fixed payment. It also gives her no pay slips. Should we declare it?
yes because you can earn a certain amount before your benefit is affected and if you don't declare and "they" find out you will be in the doo doo. Fairly sure that there will be some kind of income tracing paper work and that the body shop will be required to do some kind of reporting!!
Definitely. Whether she works as a sole trader or starts a limited company, she'll have to declare herself as self employed, keep receipts and invoices, be prepared to pay the tax on her earnings, and file self-assessment tax returns.
She must keep detailed records of her earned income AFTER expenses, which are calculated over the year for tax and insurance I think. Could be wrong, usually am.
