We are going to Goodwood Festival Of Speed next week for three nights, thu, fri and sat. One of hubbys business associates is lending us his motorhome, so excited as never been away in one before.I know, get a life ! He is well off so I am hoping its a nice one. He said its a six berth, but more comfy for four. There are only three of us, me,hubby and son, so it should be a laugh. What I am wondering is, what else should we take apart from food, drink, toiletries etc I have been looking at windbreaks and camping tables on ebay (already got folding chairs)in case we want to sit outside during the evening. Any advice?
Sounds lovely wb - perhaps it would be a good idea to have a look at it asap - some come with their own awnings. You would benefit from seeing what storage capacity there is too. I would expect you would have to provide your own bedding - in the modern layout duvets are usually suitable rather than having to get sleeping bags. Check for fridge and cooker so you can organise any meals you want to cook. Hope the weather holds and have a lovely time
Ah, thanks ttfn. I would rather take my own duvets anyway, so thats not a problem. We are fetching it on the thurs morning and bringing it home to load up, so wont get to see it until then unfortunately. I have been looking( and dreaming) on the net today at the huge ones you can get. Oh My God, they are HUGE ! One day maybe !
Know what you mean wb - did you look at any of the Winnebagos. Phwoarr. Just make sure where you park up - some of them can be quite heavy and you don't want to be sinking into soft ground in them! Have you checked about any insurance cover - they don't come cheap. With a bit of luck you might be able to borrow it again. Always check for headroom barriers before entering any car park or enclosure - motor homes are not welcome everywhere, unfortunately. The only other thing I can think of especially is if you might have a carpet runner or similar that you could put over the existing flooring in case the weather gets damp or someone spills their tea?
ttfn you are so full of good ideas ! We have booked into a site which is a bit like a haven site with lots to do. Good job as I only want to go to Goodwood for one of the days. I can always go swimming or even better, sit at the bar. Wont be spilling much tea, wine or vodka maybe. If we like this trip we are on about going to Le Manns in France next year. Hubby is a car fanatic if you had't figured it out !
I owned an old motor home for a few years and had great fun driving all around Scotland in it - loved the freedom it afforded. Few years ago I hired one for a week - more modern and complete with shower etc. Had a job to find one that would (a) accommodate and (b) accept my 3 dogs - one weighed 12 stone! It all brings back very happy memories I am sure you are all going to have a grand time. Just tell the menfolk that tidiness is next to godliness - it's a bit like living in a submarine!
