Dog's are carnivors, and in the "wild" would eat meat and veg (scavinge and hunt). But they, like us can survive on just fruit and veg, though it's not considered natural.
I wouldn't like to be down wind of a veggie dog, but if you check the vegetarian society they have a page for veggie dog diets. It includes rice and tofu and low salt yeast for vitamin B, which is essential.
If you turn your dog into a veggie, the intestinal flora that attacks any intestinal meat pathogens will eventually disappear and in time when your dog finds a dead bird or mouse/rat and eat it the dog may become very sick.
It's not natural for it to do so - why?
Mine love their veggies, mixed in with their complete diet. Usually cabbage and carrots which are pulsed up to aid digestion.

My dog seems to like fruit and veg better than meat (along with pasta.)
I dont want to force him to eat meat if he can do without it.
Dogs NEED protein in thier diet! You can give the fruit and veggies but you need to also give them plenty of protein. I would not recommend a vegitarian diet for your dog!! You could make them very sick doing this.
