Sony Ericsson K750i

Hi, im thinkin about buying a SE K750i and just have a few questions to anyone that already has the phone, I can't find these answers on any websites.

1) Does the phone come readily Bluetooth enabled? Or will I have to buy extras?

2) Does it come with an additional memory card?

3) I'm going to get an o2 12 month contract. After the contract has expired, will my sim card become pay as you go, or will I have to keep my old PAYG simcard?

Hey dodgymanc,

1) Bluetooth comes as standard with the k750i. All you need is the bluetooth accessories to use with it (headset etc). Or you can just use it as it is to communicate with other bluetooth enabled devices.

2) Yes a 64mb Sony memory stick duo comes with the phone. (including adapter to normal memory stick size). The phone has 32mb built in = 96mb total

3) I am afraid i cannot really answer for sure as I have never had a pay as you go, but as far as i am aware once a contract is cancelled, the sim card is dead unless you make special arangements with the service provider maybe?

Cheers chazza, wicked answer! I guessed the sim card went dead after 12 months, so i'll keep my PAYG one. I take it that i can just re-insert that one into the phone, and it'll become PAYG again? (it's an o2 sim card so that'll be fine wont it?)

It should be fine I would have thought.

O2 dont lock their phones or restrict them in anyway.

Don't go near vodaphone though! They don't allow you to use the mp3 function!!!! (including as ringtones)

I can expand that answer to question 3 for you, dodgymanc!

After the 12 month contract is up, the phone will continue to work although at this point you can cancel it at any time (a new 12 month contract is not incurred automatically).

When you do come to put the PAYG sim in, you can phone O2 customer services and they can 'port' your contract phone number to the PAYG sim, unless you don't mind having a different phone number. This number port is also free, and it just stops any hassle at having to remember other phone numbers!!

It's a great phone, by the way! Had it for a little over a month and I'm very happy with it!!

Ah cool, nice one mattfox. So after twelve months i will start another contract until i phone up and cancel it? ...sorry, i'm a little unclear as to what you meant by the phone "will continue to work".

Just found a great deal btw: �20pcm for 1000 off peak O2 + landline calls, 25 x-network calls and 100 texts (media messages count as 4 texts) And I get 1/2 price line rental for the first 3 months, with double minutes and messages for first 3 months...and a "free gift" (probably a cabbage.) Sorry quite a mouthful but it beats the one on the O2 online shop.

after your 12 months are up, they will continue to provide a service and you will continue to get bills.

However, after the 12 month point, you are free to cancel at any time. If you wanted to cancel before the 12 months, you would have to pay the balance of the year's worth of line rental.

I think mattfox meant that the phone doesnt stop working because you cancelled your contract - only the sim stops working. You are free to put any sim you choose into the phone and continue using it. Even othe networks' cards.

Ah right, cool! You guys have been so helpful! One last question. I've read the terms and conditions but can't find much on this. When i purchase the phone, will it bill me by direct debit, or will it request a payment by post? Will the payment be monthly, quarterly, in one lump sum etc? Or would I be able to decide all this?

O2 bill monthly and I think that they bill by Direct Debit - I don't know of any mobile provider that bills in any other way!

Also, I've uploaded some photos taken with the K750i in case you want to check out the quality of the camera!! ... prints 15x10 no prob and you can even get a good A4 size print from it!!

It has a panoramic mode that automatically stitches together 3 photos as you take them! Cool, eh?!

for the record, vodafone doesn't stop you from using the mp3 functionality - i got my K750i last week and the first thing i did was to set an mp3 as my ringtone.

and you can listen to mp3s using the built in media player as well.

Vodafone did restrict the mp3 function on the k700i (which i have) and i thought they had done the same for the k750i.

I think how you get your bill depends on the way in which you get the phone. If you get it from an o2 shop then you will receive paper bills, BUT you will still be signed up to a direct debit.

I think all service providers insist on a monthly direct debit nowadays.

If you get it through the o2 website and do an o2 online contract (sometimes you get better tariffs), then you will NOT receive paper bills but you will be able to view your bill online.

I currently have an o2 online tariff as they were better than the in shop ones when i signed up. You might like to check them out.
