One other failure at this World Cup............................
26 Answers
..................has been the panelists. What a load of old cobblers! Every one of them is useless. None of them ever did anything in a World Cup tournament. Alan Hindsight never even made it to the finals when Scotland qualified. Shearer, Dixon, Waddle, Butcher et.al. are all banging on about the poor performance of England. Well, they should know shouldn't they? Cos they were crap when they went to the finals. What did any of them ever do? Fk all. And they've got the hard brass neck to sit there taking their nice money for telling us what we already know - that this England team are as bad as the ones that they all played in. It's about time we saw the end of these so-called experts and just let us watch the games without the hot air to follow. Get rid of the panelists and just give us football.

Not quite true to say that Hansen didn't play in the finals. He's famous up here for the perfectly timed tackle he made on Willie Miller that allowed the Soviets to score the goal that put Scotland out of the 1982 finals.
As for the panels, for me the biggest problem is their lack of objectivity. It used to be said that newspaper sports reporters were just fans with typewriters. The TV pundits are little more than fans with microphones. I was especially amused to hear Andy Townsend saying how superior England were to Germany, and the comment by Steve McLaren that Germany were running scared of England. Do they never learn?
