Do both the faiths of Christians and Jews stem from the same point then? Surely if Christ was here for all men and women, then the division of faiths is only as a result of interpretation.

well he said he was but that depends on wether you believe him or not. As the jews dont, then he isnt relevant to them. The two faiths do have some common ground, but they have 2000 years of infighting too. incidentally islam has the same grounds as well. Mind you it can be argued that all faiths have the same basis. Something like "Im scared, lets invent someone big and powerful to look after us."

Incitatus is right in that judaism, christianity and islam all have common roots but I don't think it's true to say that years of infighting have eradicated all the differences. For example, while it's true that, on the whole, jews don't believe that jesus is the messiah, there are some who treat him as a major prophet. And jesus is certainly regarded as an important prophet within islam. There are other similarities between judaism and islam; the dietary laws, the importance of giving to charity, circumcision and various other features. The two religions stem from the two sons of Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael whose dynasties lead to the two religions. Abraham is venerated within Islam as well (Ibrahim). Nor is true to say that all religions are based on fear and a belief in all powerful being. Buddhism for example is not and is based on belief in self-enlightenment. And Hinduism is a polytheistic religion. I agree that they're all based on superstition and mumbo-jumbo though.

In response to Einstein. In the deep south of America they teach that the world was created in 7 days and refuse to teach the theory of evoloution. This does'nt seem very tolerant and this is a prime example where Religious views show no tolerance to any issue that does'nt agree with there stand point.
