No internet access........driver problem
Desktop P4, XP sp3, cable connection via belkin wireless router. other computers working ok on network.
Hi, think this is an afd driver problem
The problem started after computer froze and had to power down. After powering back-up getting error message "TCP/IP network transport not installed". After searching about on the internet on my laptop carried out the following procedure
Click Start, Run and type DEVMGMT.MSC
In the View menu, click Show hidden devices
Double-click Non-Plug and Play drivers section
Double-click the entry AFD, and click the Driver tab
Set the Startup type to System.
Start the service. Note down the error message if any.
Similarly start the two other drivers namely:
TCP/IP Protocol Driver
NetBios over Tcpip
The AFD networking support environment had a yellow warning sticker on it, the driver had stopped and when I tried to start it I get the error message
the specified driver is invalid. The Netbios and TCP/IP drivers are started
Now I'm stuck, I've ran chkdsk /R with no luck. Other Google searches for AFD driver have not come up with anything useful.
Anyone any ideas where I go from here, can I just re-install the driver and if so how?
