Hands up who had a Sunday roast + all the trimmings today?
We had roast Pork & there's enough over for a cold salad tomorrow. I ask because my neighbour turned her nose up & said she couldn't possibly cook a roast on a hot day like today. Do you stop doing a roast because its a hot day?
In our house its more to do with tradition than weather, You've probably guessed I'm one of the 'Old School''
I had roast chicken today but not at my house. I do what I call my summer roast which is a chicken coated in cajun spices with roasted mediterannean vegetables and crushed baby new potatos.
I rarely cook a roast in the summer. We tend to live on salad from April to October. Even my parents (who are "old school") don't have a Sunday roast when it is hot like this.
Today is the first time I can remember that we didn't have a Sunday roast dinner. I am a traditionalist, plus it helps me to remember what day it is! lol. My OH had somewhere to go around our usual lunchtime, so we had spare ribs, quiche lorraine, new potatoes and salad, with garlic bread. Ok but I missed the roast usually we've enough for sandwiches, or a curry for Mondays dinner.
We live on salads through the week too but to me Sunday is special, having said that our local pub "The Bell" was crowded out today, they do an excellant Roast on Sundays. It seems if mum wasn't cooking a roast they decided to go to the local. Thanx for your comments. ♥
