Carsington Water

Me and the missus went to Carsington Water yesterday, not far from where i live. Anyhow, at the tourist centre in the middle of the quadrangle they have a huge ball of marble, approx 3/4 feet circumference and must be weighing at least half a tonne. It is actually floating on a jet of water?
How the devil is that accomplished?
