willow tree brown leaves

Its been very dry the grass is struggling the willow does n't have many leaves and those on the tree 70% are brown as apposed to green. We do not have a hose pipe ban where we are, I cannot remember if the willow is supposed to be all leafy or not at this time of year?? The tree is roughly 9ft tall should i take the hose pipe out to the tree and leave it running for a bit, or is this normal for a willow to be bear and somewhat brown.

not normal and with a willow's root run they can usually get enough water even if other plants are struggling. If you want to water it run the hose level with the edge of the leaf canopy rather than near the trunk as that will be where the fine'feeder' roots are
