1) if you divided 20 apples between 'n' numbers of boys, how many apples would each boy get?
2)Put these words into pairs; Ark, Carp, Ling, Mat, Piano, Plaice, Star, Tune.

1.) From a purely mathematical point of view this would be 20 divided by n, but that's too obvious so not sure I understand the question !! lol

2.) I'm assuming you're looking for this sort of thing??

CARPARK
STARLING
PLAICE MAT (although strictly speaking this should be PLACE not the fish)

1) is impossible to answer unless we know what these 'n' numbers are. Or do you mean 'n' boys?

If the latter I seem to remember that one of my many puzzle and recreational maths books makes a distinction between dividing the apples AMONG n boys (in which case they receive 20/n each) and dividing the apples BETWEEN them, in which case the answer is different but I can't remember what! Must find the book if I can.
10 apples, as between implies only 2 boys. Among could be any number.
