I'm lost for words. Well, almost. I have read that there are some tribes in remote lands that revere their older people because of their great wisdom, but I bet that such tribes would change their way of thinking if their older people did something like this.
Did he jump or was he pushed? Maybe somebody got tired of waiting for their inheritance.
Come on, just an old guy trying to get his rocks off..
Good for him!! never too old to have fun and take risks, why the hell not!! you only live once.
^ "Good for him" ???

He was seriously injured!!!
The article says he is believed to have done it before and was jumping with members of his family....... I agree, good for him if he enjoys it, he's not harming others and a lot of people do extreme sports for kicks.

This entire "tombstoning" thing is just media hype, people have been diving into the sea from rocks since for years.
A lad I went to school with jumped off a railway viaduct into the sea. He ended up paralysed for life. He was only 16

At the time I don't remember thinking "Good for him"
lol... what a ridiculous thing to do at any age.
Here in Plymouth kids are hurt every year, tombstoning. The rocks they get injured on don't move from one year to the next.....do they have a death wish or something? It's not a 'sport'...it's just stupidity.
Joeluke, a lad I went to school with jumped in 3 foot of water and ended up in a wheelchair as a result.Just bad luck.
If the old fella wants to do it , who are we to criticise?
We are entitled to an opinion though. Idiotic is mine!
flying in a pressurised tin can is idiotic but people do it.
Big difference between young kids doing stupid things and a 75 year old bloke doing something because he enjoys it and understands the risks (I'd guess if he didn't understand the risk of jumping off a cliff then he'd not have live until 75)
This is no ordinary pensioner. He is a retired army major and this year cycled 2000 miles around Britain for charity, raising £15000.
He is fit in mind and body, but just loves a challenge and a thrill.

I suppose he should be sat in his power lift armchair, shuffling around on his zimmer, but where's the fun in that?

He could take part in something that is regulated. Like bungee jumping/sky diving/rally driving all of which are a thrill and to a degree safer.
The guy is old enough to know better. Putting himself at risk, the same goes for potholers, cavers and climbers. Then someone has to put their lives at risk rescuing them.
