ECG results .... should I be worried?
2 Answers
Finally went for ECG this morning with doctor's referral letter to local walk in centre. Been on atenenol (originally 100mg reduced to 50mg) and amlodipine 10mg for many years. Earlier this year my pulse was 42-50 (hence atenenol being reduced). ECG showed pulse 49, and was advised to get to doctors promptly. Managed to get seen this afternoon (a miracle!). My reading then was 60ish. BP was fine when sitting, but dropped when taken when I was standing up. I've been feeling very faint and stumbly this last week, hence finally getting myself to health centre today. Doc said to stop taking atenenol and go back to see her next week. Bit worried about stopping taking this. Do I need to be worried or what symptoms should I look out for? I don't know anybody else with similar problems to share experiences with so would much appreciate if anybody has been in same situation.

BP is fine on sitting but becomes low on standing. You are already on hypotensive agents ,,Atenelol and amlodipine and feeling faint.
Can we associate the low BP with the bradycardia as shown on ECG?
Answer....yes we can.
Hashimoto's Disease (underactive thyroid) will give you low pulse rate and low BP.
I agree with your doctor to reduce you BP tablets, BUT you also must have your thyroid investigated to eliminate underactivity.
