Over the years I got more piercings, including my nose, tongue, and ears (one in the cartilage)..it never hurt me...I have always been told I have a high pain tolerance, maybe so, but I can assure you from experience, the belly button is nothing to worry about...
(of course, now I am grown up and only have two piercings in each ear left)...have fun while ur young lilpixie!
Now, to give you some idea of what low pain threshold I have... I fainted when I got my ears pierced, lol!!
I got my belly done a long time ago and the best way I can describe the pain is it's like the pain you get when you stub your toe.. really awful, but for about 5 seconds.
I didn't have any problems with mine. Make sure you keep it clean. I used to clean mine with TCP, using a cotton bud. Might be useful not wearing a belt for a few weeks as it can catch. Also regularly turn the ring/bolt around so that it 'moves' in the piercing.
Good luck!
Hi lilpixie, I had my belly button done when i was about 13/14 - I had a lady come to my house to do it (my mum had to sign for it) It was really good as a friend was having her's done also! It didnt really hurt much when it was being done (i did go a bit wobbly and light headed - but i blame that on not eating anything - after a sweet cuppa tea i was fine!) though it hurt for about 3 days after and i had to keep it covered for 5 days and couldnt get it wet!!
Mine never got infected what so ever - I didnt even have to clean it that often ( and when i did i only used hot water) - which was brill as everyone else i knew who had got it done got infected - maybe i was just lucky?
Make sure you get a Bar and not a ring - I know more people got infected from the rings - you tend to be able to snag them easier!
Hope this helps
Hi lilpixie, I had my navel done several years ago, it didn't hurt while it was being pierced it was afterwards, it just felt hot and sore. I was told to bathe it in warm salt water but it kept getting infected, I tried different creams and sprays which helped a bit, then a girl told me to use ' Hydrogen Peroxide Solution 3% ' it cleared up the infection within a week and I had no problems since, mine was getting infected on and off for 8-9 mths until I used the solution. Good Luck whatever you decide. :-)
P.S. I have always used a bar it doesn't get caught-up.
