Papaver Allegro

We bought a pot plant (Papaver Allegro) and planted it in the garden and are quite astounded at how much it's grown ! We're wondering whether, after the end of this growing season we can dig up the root clump and split it into two or more peices and replant them separately ?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

no need dig to one side and separate off a piece of root make sure you know which way is up.. cut it into sections a couple of inches long and make holes in a pot of gritty compost, drop the root cuttings in the holes and firm in, keep just moist in a shady spot protected from slugs and you should get some new plants if the clump is realy big take small pieces off the side of the clump rather than digging up and dividing...I tried it with a large poppy and killed the whole plant...
