Does anyone know why it seems impossible to get a microwave oven where the door opens left to right?  The only place I can put mine in the kitchen means I have to lean over the door to get things in and out.  Is there a reason?

Many left-handed people would like to know the answer to this as well but it would seem that no manufacturer makes one. DeLonghi did (and may still do) make one with a door that was hinged at the bottom so that it dropped down like a dishwasher door. I have also seen commercial devices where the door slides upwards but have no idea on the make.
Is it possible to reverse the door on your microwave, only we had the same problem when we bought a fridge/freezer, and this was the solution?

Thanks for your replies.  Unfortunately it is not possible to reverse the door on my microwave - and although I'm not left-handed I tried the left-handed website.  No microwaves I'm afraid.  I would still love to know why they only make them opening one way.  One of the great mysteries of the universe!

I also need a left opening microwave for your same reason...but have yet to find one.

If anyone sees one please e-mail me the brand.

Thanks
