Is everything in life that seems to good to be true always a let down of some kind either it doesn't turn into anything or it's a scam?

that is my mantra molly, if something seems to good to be true, it quite often is.. :)

Turns out quite a few people from cadets got the offer.

It was a job as the harbour masters assistant, but seeing as other cadets, who are morre experienced and have more of those kinds of qualifications that are relevant, I doubt i'll get it, but i've tried.

The harbour master asked our commanding officer if anyone would be suitable as he didn't want to have to sift through hundreds of cvs, when it's only a part time, low paid job that needs the kind of qualifications we have.
