Rubber Chicken anyone else noticed
8 Answers
Been buying frozen chicken from Iceland for ages, cooking the same ways, but I have noticed its texture has gone like rubber in the last 6 mths.Tried Asda, that was the same, with Tesco hit and miss.Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me.I have tried
Cook from frozen
defrost
roast
stir fry
pressure cook
microwave defrost then cook
poach
cook twice(roast then stir fry)
cook long
cook fast
HELP!!!!!
I love my chicken but cannot afford much so budget lines are my thing, but the quality has gone recently I think that must be the problem anyway.Hints and tips anyone please
Thanks all

might be the reason. Our local indian takeaway started using very rubbery chicken....such a shame so we gave up going there.

That Panorama program is from 2003-so therefore dealing with what was already a long-standing situation. If the cause of ayabreas bad chicken is the adding of water, then it is not really the most cost effective product to buy. You may be better off buying the supermarket's 'value' range fresh chicken breast fillets......no waste, and hopefully not so adulterated. If you must buy the frozen-check the label for added water.
Sounds great in theory, but I have also been having the same problem with fresh chicken.I was thinking maybe it had something to do with shops adding something because they want to make even more money in these tough times(dunno what and a bit of me doese'nt want to think about it either!)
Is there any hope for me?Tonight's chicken was yuk

for a whole chicken that you would be roasting i tend to stuff chicken with an onion... or maybe stuffing! You dont have to eat the things you stuff it with but believe me the chicken will stay moist and much better. I learnt this from just having a normal chicken and thinking it was constantly dry!
