Printer for Asus Netbook Eee (Linux)?

A friend of mine, with fairly limited computing experience, wants a printer for the above Netbook. Someone in Tesco sold her one, she took it back the next day to ask them to connect it for her, a different salesperson said it wasn't possible - she shouldn't have been sold it in the first place. Can anyone help with this question (preferably not in highly technical language!) There is no CD capacity on these netbooks, so I assume any printer software would have to be obtained from the net? Thanks

If so, all she needs to do is source a printer with USB connectivity which is supported by Linux. There are thousands:
