Undercoat/gloss?
I am in the middle of repainting my hallway, I have undercoated almost everything, now the problem I have is, well I work for people that have beautiful houses that always look immaculate decorating wise and ive noticed that they do not use a splash of gloss anywhere and it stays looking bright white and clean, ive noticed that when I use gloss it goes discoloured after so long and I dont want to have to keep painting....is this a new trend (no gloss) and is it wise to do so?

Eggshell can be oil or water based. Either way it has a fairly flat finish (hardly any sheen).
Satinwood has a little more shine to it ............. rather like satin vinyl emulsion.
Both are cleanable and hard-wearing. Classy alternatives to gloss :o)))))
