If a moderator suspends a user, he/she will submit a report to the Editor explaining why it has been done. It might simply be something like "to allow time for the poster to calm down a bit", in which case the Editor will soon reinstate the user. (Any moderator can also reinstate a suspended user). But if it's for something like "has revealed himself to be xxxxx, who is already banned", the Editor will permanently ban the user.
The current 'late' Editor (on Monday to Thursday evenings) is fairly new to the job, having only started a couple of weeks ago, so he/she will probably be adopting a rather cautious approach to what is permitted here.

Joe:
The Editor (or one of them, 'cos I don't know how many there are) has been kind enough to send me an email explaining a bit about how things work around here, which is where my information comes from. One of the things that the Ed mentioned is that the moderators are meant to stay anonymous. So I'll now tell you that I'm not a moderator and leave you to guess whether I'm being honest or simply 'following orders' ;-)

Micmak:
Although the Ed has told me a little about the way things work here, I've certainly got no information about specific cases. Your post seems to suggest that you might be someone who was banned from here 3 months ago and who is now using another name. If that's the case it might be best if you kept quiet about it, 'cos the Ed might not like it!
