My daughter has been dying her hair brown with semi-permanent colours for the last year. She now wants to go blonde. Is this possible? how? and more importantly is it going to cost me a fortune?

Easy....fade the semis as much as possible... head and shoulders helps, use a pre lightener l'oreal do a good one then a toner in the shade of blonde she fancies... or pay a hairdresser in which case pay the extra for multi-tonal foils will look much better

Thanks. Sounds easy enough.
brown to blonde can turn green with incorrect products......use a salon for professional products required. Coloring is permanent but roots will need touching up after 6w.

Blonde hilites (instead of full base color) wont show re-growth & can be left longer before root treatment.
forgot....don't try going blonde if you've used harmony.... it goes purple....
Consider a full head of hilites @ £80 (Takes minimum 2hours work) plus climazone, salon, staff & fittings. Divided by 6weeks = £13.30pw.......worth peace of mind & healthy hair?
I would advise leaving it to the professionals, I tried it myself once to try and cut down the cost of hairdressers, and my hair ended up a yellowy colour! I ended up buying a mid brown (my natural colour) and putting it over the top to hide it!
I forget...I've been colouring my own since I was around 16 apart from a short spell when I could afford a really good salon who were into arty stuff... It's a bit scary to do a big change yourself... and I agree you are better to have a salon do if you can afford it...
I agree with the colour going green .. my hair went a delicate shade of khaki once. Leave it to the professionals. Maybe somewhere has a special offer on highlights ??
You all sound v knowledgable about this sort of thing - why is my permanent hair dye/colourant/whatever it's called not permanent? It doesn't seem to 'grow out' (leaving obvious roots) - more like wash out!
When i was 16, i used a spray to go blonde, but it made it more orange! i wonder what that was called????
I've always gone to the hairdressers ever since I inadvertently went purple.
That sounds like "sun-in" to me JB! Horrific stuff!
chazza, thats the one! sun-in! i still shudder at the thought of how my hair looked!
