Tips for getting baby off a bottle and to use a sippy cup???

I have tried her with loads of different cups and she just refuses. She is 17 month old?
Any suggestions, as i think this it too old to be on a bottle, especially during the day..

I personally would keep on persisting with a cup and throw the bottles away. If you don't give in she would eventually take it if she wants the milk. A 17mth old has no need to have milk through the day anyway, just on a morning and bedtime if she likes. Its no big deal if she doesn't have it.

Sorry, im going ot disagree with tigwig there.

So what if she prefers a bottle? Why the need to try and force her onto cups? If she's happier with a bottle, let her continue with them, they're doing no harm. She's hardly still going to be on them when she gets to double figures in age is she? I fail to see the need to stress both of you out on something so trivial.

If you leave her to it, she'll be on the "big girls" vups before you know it of her own free will.

agree with B00; there's enough stress in the life of a parent (and a baby, for that matter) without finding new reasons for it. Leave baby to choose her own vessel, it's not a big deal. If other parents raise their eyebrows and say 'Is she still on a bottle?', just say 'yes'.

you can buy cups where you can attatch teats and then gradually wean her onto a cup

Poor wee thing. Let her have her bottle she will have given it up by the time she gets married so where is the problem. They are little for such a short time and to make a fuss about it is not worth stressing her out.

my 28 month old is still on a bottle for her milk at bedtime.

i tried all sorts of cups with both of mine but have found these 3 to be great (and easy to clean)

Didnt expect folk to agree with me on this one, lol.

I've a confession...

My daughter was gone 3 before she gave up taking a bottle of milk (cows milk i have to add) to bed! I have to admit i was slightly concerned but using the reasoning i used above I figured it wasn't THAT big a deal. And she did eventually stop doing it. I think it was more of a security thing rather than her wanting the actual bottle and a part of me thought it was sweet.

I worked beside a guy who son took a bottle of hot chocolate to bed with him when he was 5. I did worry about the poor boy's teeth. Not sure when he stopped it, but I think it would have been better not to get to the point when you are giving them their drink of choice in it. Don't seee a problem with them having milk from it, but for the sake of her teeth, don't leave her with it to sleep.

I don't mind her having a bottle at night (altho' I am trying to stop the night one as she still gets up though the night for one).. And maybe one in the morning. The thing is, she won't even try a cup..

Then she's not ready. At 17 months she's still only a baby.

BOO...mine were about that age. They only came off them because my sister looked after them so I could go on holiday. Came back and all bottles and dummies had been binned....BONUS..!!

Can I just clarify I have nothing against using a bottle on a night or first thing on a morning it was just the bottles through the day time that I disagree with! Obviously it is up to the poster to decide what she wants to do anyway.
