Is this camera called the same in the USA? & is everything the same?
A friend is going on hols to the USA & said that if they are cheaper over there she will bring me one back... is this a good idea??

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The Charger will work perfectly well. My Charger for the Canon Ixus 50 works between 100v-240, so that covers America and the UK (it's probably the same charger as for the Ixus 40).
You might need to be wary of any warranty that comes with a camera bought in the US, it might not cover you if your camera fails here. Best to check that out.

The other thing you need to check is the type of plug! My parents bought me a Casio Exilim from the States and my dad assumed it would come with a British plug but it didn't and I had to buy an adapter to charge it and it works fine!! No problems whatsoever!! I say get it as mine was practically half the price over there and hey I had to fork out �14.99 for the adapter but it is definitely worth it!!
