word 2003 - importing a data file

i want to import a data file in word 2003. thereafter i want to change data into a table...help anyone...thanks muchly. my brain hurts....doing this clait plus / ITQ course and to speed i up i'm trying to do as much as possible at home via homework etc....

2 In the 'Table' menu at the top, select 'Insert', then 'Table'.
3 Select the number of columns and rows you want and click OK.
4 Go to the Exel folder your data is in, cover the required data and Copy
5 Go back to the Word document, click in the top left hand field of your new table, right-click and Paste. This won't look right yet.
6 Somewhere on your document, near the area you've pasted will be a little image that, if you hover over it, tells you it's Paste Options.
7 Click in that and select 'Merge with existing table'
That should do the trick. I don't doubt there are other ways of doing this, but this is what works for me.
