dr b You'll be joining me in the doghouse if you're not careful!

Some of our 'friends' don't think that direct answers should be given.

many thanks-hope i haven't caused trouble
Is that not giving answers ever Kayakamina? I thought this was answerbank?
Quite right grasscarp, that has always been my position and I'll risk the wrath of a few and carry on answering.
Sorry K but I'm with the other 'Doc' in some cases.
I too think that for certain crosswords only hints should be given!

In this case I would not now consider giving even a hint!
This is day 2 and already answers are being asked for, not even explanations this time! ("Have spent hours", WOW!)
The rest will be asked for later in the week!

Already (this week alone) Y11 has had completed:-
Indy Jumbo
Indy Jumbo 'Spot the connection'
Indy Saturday Cryptic
Mephisto
Azed
TLS
Please look at profile and you see that this happens every week!
Then look at answers provided this year and there is ONE (Feb 12)

I dont mind giving help, but not to people who only take! :-(
Hi MLN:Rugby

You make an excellent point regarding Y11.

As to only hints being given for 'certain crosswords', which are the crosswords concerned and who decided?
I believe there is a good case for the Listener with it's league table etc. but is it the barred crosswords, a tough Araucaria or Paul or a Saga maybe?
Should hints only be given for a certain period i.e one week, two weeks after publication?
How do answerers know?
Blimey ! I thought this was a site for answers ! Have I been misled all these years ? lol ;o)
Hi K:
I consider all the barred crosswords to be no-no's for giving direct answers(but that is only my opinion)!
If help is required in understanding a clue then I'll gladly assist if I can, but not on day one. If I'm struggling I put it aside and try again later/days later and only ask for HELP if I hit a brick wall, so why cant others do this.
It annoys me to see someone asking for the answers (as above) so soon without making a decent attempt at it first. These required answers are some of the across, so the downs will follow (judging by the missing letters), then the unclued!

Teacher:
I almost agree. This is a site for help & answers! But surely not just take, take, take!

P.S.
Congratulations to Y11 on having Swannbaker win you a £25 wine voucher for Indy 'Spot The Connection 61'.

After the exchange between K and MLN I am almost too afraid to ask. At 29 across I have
?NTE?EE. Is it perhaps something like a French participle, intesée? Still light of three unclued lights...
MLN - I can't enter, as there is no postal service from the Congo and Doc throws out any attempt to email a grid.
entetee
Thanks K, I should have had that, being a golfer.
Happy to help.

Mark - MLN is a pal so don't worry about our difference of opinion.
it is just ironic that on two of the sites I contribute to Crossword Help wants answers but apparently Answerbank wants hints!
