1a Shipment - 'hip men' (in) st(reet)
5d Trepans - anag 'parents'

3d Pater - Latin "father" & 'pate' (head) + (teache)r (finally
3d Pater . . . . PATE/head + (teache)R
That last one (Shipment) was killing me, thanks! Shipment it was the only word I could think of that fits. I understand the wordplay but I still don't see where the definition comes from, why does it mean "In a way groovy chaps"??
12a Almighty - 'alight' (rest) (outside) 'im' (about) + y(ard) (?)
No, that doesn't work, sorry...
1a. S hip men T . . . . (does this relate to Q22 ?)

hip men = groovy chaps
ST = Street/way

(already answered by L/King)
For SammJ - I don't have the puzzle, but think I recall from this morning that the answer to 22 was 'Cargo', giving 'Shipment' (explanation above)
I think that lie-in king is correct when he originally suggested the answer to 12 a as being "almighty". This is a very plausible answer although it has too many"i's" to fit . A compiler error perhaps!
