Troublesome PC

Hi
Can any of you wonderful people help me with my pc problems, i have AOl and yes i know many people advise against this but i'm stuck with it just now, my problem is my pc always seems to be hanging or executing with the egg timer, its driving me insane! When i start to search (google is my search page) it always takes me onto another screen which gives me the following message:

The web address you entered could not be found[More Information]
You were trying to go to searcht.aol.co.uk

Now i have always been able to get my searches up straightaway but i don't know why i'm getting this message, on this error message page i saw this advert:

Is this safe for me to download and run? As you will by now know i don't have a great knowledge of computers, Please Please help. Many Thanks

Have you tried installing Firefox, that might speed it up?

You need to clean out all Temp Folders, all Temp Internet Files first .. Then check processes running for any rogue items.
Switch off System Restore and do a full scan.
Switch on again and recheck.
Only then think about cleaning/compacting Registry.

Download and run Glary Utilities.It has a one click maintenance facitity which should clean up most of your problems. Also it has individual programs to help with other speed related issues .The progam is free. You should also download and run Auslogics Disk Defrag to defrag your hard drive. You can also defrag your registry with Glary Utilities as well. You should also be using Internet Explorer 8 as this is a fast browser.How much RAM have you got installed ? For best results you should have at least 2 GB installed.
