Assuming you mean a CBR600, I have owned both. They are not really aiming for the same market, so one is not really better than the other, they are both the market leaders in their segment. The VFR is a sports tourer, whilst the CBR is more of a sportsbike, although of all the 600s it is the most versatile, as it is relativly comfortable for long distances, and can carry a pillion reasonably well. They both have a reputation for great reliability. There is a total sports version of the CBR now, called the (CBR600RR, as oposed to the normal one, the CBR600F). The CBR is the best selling middleweight sportsbike, and has been for ages, which means they must be good I guess, but they are also very very common. I prefered the VFR, as its greater capacity engine allowed more relaxed riding, at lower revs for a given speed, they handle well on the road, although they would loose out to more sporty tackle on a trackday. VFRs generally have better build quality than just about any other bike, they really are superb, but then again, they aint cheap! The latest incarnation of the VFR has gone up in capacity to 900cc, and has V-Tec, like the Honda cars, but I gather this is a bit of an aquired taste on a bike, they also have pointless, (IMO) linked brakes, so I doubt I will ever buy one again. For me, and many other people, a late VFR750 is the classic 'do it all' bike. Other bikes are faster, or more sporty, or better at touring, but nothing else can do all this so well.

I was thinking more along the lines of a VFR or CBR 400cc. The CBR deffinatly catches my attention more. I love light bikes. I'm not into heavy ones. I feel more in control etc.
If you can get a good non-thrashed /crashed CBR400 RR Baby Blade NC29 Gull Arm (wow, that's a bit techie) they're brilliant - wife's had 2, and I'd often nick it for a quick blast (instead of R1 Yam). VFR is quick too, but haven't rideden one - power selivery may be a bit rougher, due to engine configuration. Warning - low life's like to ride them too, so lock it up always !!
OK, I can't spell, please forgive

Ahhh, if you mean a VFR400, or a CBR 400 thats a different matter, the CBR 400 tri-arm (the forerunner of the gul-arm,) then they are the buisness.
