Have a recipe for Curry Goat that I fancy trying out but it says I need "green onions". I know that Caribbean's call "spring onions" or "salad onions", "skellions" - is it the same thing?
Thanks Shaneystar - we are both quite right, "green onions" are the same thing as spring onions, or alternatively "scallions/skellions". Easy enough to find at the supermarket then!
Now I just need to find somewhere local that sells goat meat!!
If you can't find goat, you could use mutton. I'm assured by several caribbean friends that this is an acceptable replacement in the UK. Have you tried HALAL butchers?
Green onions are NOT spring onions. Green onions are just normal onions, people often call them white onions, but there are 3 main types Green, White and Red. Green are just normal bronze skinned onions, when you peel them, the layer underneath is green..therefore green onions!!.
