Spider phobias

Anyone out there got a spider phobia? I`ve just walked down the narrow, overgrown bit of my back garden to the gate, and walked right into a spider`s web. The web and spider stuck right to the middle of my face. Could be someone`s nightmare!

A couple of years ago, I had to shout for a neighbour from a bedroom window to remove one from the stairs because I literally couldn't move I was so scared. It was a mega huge beast too. When my neighbour had come in and picked it up in his bare hands (freak out!!) and taken it outside, I sat downstairs and sobbed.
My boyfriend maintains they're more scared of me than I am of them. I could laugh in his face for being so wrong!

A friend of mine used to live in Singapore and she got up one night and went down the hall heading for the kitchen to get a drink of water. She trod on something which made a horrible squelching noise and when she screamed and turned the hall light on, she'd trodden on a spider that, once squashed underfoot, was as big as a dinnerplate! I'd have died on the spot!
Boxtops, ever since I read something about a spider being controlled totally by a nervous system rather than a brain (or something like that) I have been unable to bring myself to believe he is more afraid of me than I of him. Sorry boy - up the hoover with you!!
Chokkie, I've encountered many like that on my travels - but most have been confined to webs in trees and bushes and have, thankfully, been easy to avoid. It's when they're running around a room, or sitting menacingly on a ceiling waiting to 'get me' I panic. The stupid thing is I know it's stupid, but that changes nothing!! :o)
