Tipping in the US

Am travelling to California next week and need a bit of a hand with tipping. How much for example do I tip for valet parking, luggage, waiters etc. Can anyone help please

Valet parking I'd just add a dollar or two, if anything - look at what the rest of the queue does. Luggage, a dollar an item/visit up to a max of three to five dollars or so. If a doorman calls a cab on the street for you, that's a dollar or two.
Most importantly, go with what you're happy and comfortable with - don't let it spoil your holiday ...
