I'm 37 and have started to grow my hair long again. Mine is extremely thick and can be wavy, downright curly, nearly straight depnding on what mood it's in! Yesterday it was curly on one side and straight on the other.

thing is- my hairdresser is young- i am the same age as her mum. Last year she cut it medium length but my head , although square, seemed really big ( i know its sounds odd , but it made my face look like a testicle (!)- albeit a square one!! But most people seemed to like it- but i couldnt get use to it-+ does short hair make you look older anyway i wonder.
I really hate it when I see and older woman with long grey hair, a sort of eternal earth mother look, it looks as though they can't be bothered to take care of their appearance. I used to have natural dark brown hair. Occasionally red/brown colour now I have a light blond colouring. I've always had my hair shortish and wispy anyway and I would love to grow it to a graduated bob, but I get so far and it gets untidy and straight to me so I have it cut again.
FG's sake! The woman's had 'work' done! She's 63!!!! Lovely grey hair but black eyebrows, hello!!!!!! Love her music though.
I think if you can carry off meduim to long hair then you should go for it, it's so versatile, as others have said.
I have longish hair, which suits me but I love the 'pixie' look that suits some women so well
