laptop power jack

anyone know how much it would cost to replace the power jack is that what its called? I mean the internal part where the cable goes in, the laptop fell of the bed while plugged in the power cable is also damaged but more concerned about how much it will cost to repair or replace the internal part.

Nobody is going to be able to answer without knowing what laptop, some (mainly some compaqs that I know off) can be replaced buy simply undoing a little panel on the bottom, removing the power jack and pushing a new one in, some require a full strip down of the laptop pretty much as far as it can be and then the old power jack has to be un-soldered and a new one soldered in.

Obviously the latter would be far more expensive than the former.

oh right well its a dell only a year old rang a laptop repair place and they said its not an expensive repair but then again I havent dropped it in to them yet so will have to wait and see. thanks

I got my laptop power jack replaced for £60. I thought that was not a bad price.It works great now!
