temporary to permanent

I have been working for the same company for nearly 2 years all be it on several temporary contracts to cover sick and maternity leave. I have applied for several jobs (11 in total) Despite meeting all of the criteria or i get an interview to be told that someone else has more experience (but I am currently doing the job). I had an interview the other day and when talking to the other candidates none of them had worked in a similar role/company before.

I have not heard anything and awaiting feedback but it seems odd I dont seem to be getting anywhere

It doesn't seem they want you, for a reason it is impossible to guess.
Nevermind, if you have clocked up 12 months continuous service, even if under several temporary contracts that have been renewed, you are likely to have accrued certain employment rights by now. Try mentioning the words 'unfair dismissal' and 'Employment Tribunal' when the subject of leaving next crops up. Probably won't get you that permanent contract but it might get you a few readies not to pursue a claim.
