Weird clues?

I used to be able to finish the skeleton crossword fairly quickly but now I'm lucky if I can answer a quarter of it. Does anyone else find it difficult? I gave it up for a while but thought I would have a go today- I got seven answers then gave up!!

Hi quinie I used to enjoy this crossword but gave it up a few years back. As you say the clues are a bit odd. Quite a few ABers are able to finish it. One in particular - johnalex - can come up with the answers (I sometimes wonder if he is the setter lol)

There's a site which gives the completed grid. If you want, I can post a link for you so that you can finish it.

Thank you JMR27. I know the site you mentioned.I've checked it today and still can't fathom out some of the answers !! Don't think I'll bother with it again . I prefer cryptic puzzles to general knowledge ones where you can find answers by googling or using reference books.Bye.

Hi quinie - just catching up with this weekend's Q&A's. Sorry to hear of your frustration with the Skeleton who continues to rattle us up with his bony clues. More difficult than usual yesterday - suggest you search and crib a few answers from this site to get you going again (in the name of cruciverbal education!). Hi also to JMR with thanks for kind comments, although I don't have the talent to sharpen a pencil, let alone compile a crossword!
