DVD Ghost - Uninstall
I need some advice on how to uninstall region free dvd software. I just downloaded DVD Ghost, software that promises to run in the background and allow you to watch DVD's from any region. I installed it, found out in about two minutes that it does not work, and have spent the last 30 minutes trying to uninstall it. Unfortunately, it won't allow itself to be uninstalled! I keep getting this message: Uninstall has detected that DVD Ghost 2.5 is currently running. Please close all instances of it now, click OK to continue, or Cancel to exit. Well, the problem is, Ghost doesn't allow itself to be stopped! I have tried turning off my computer, etc., but nothing!
Any suggestions? (By the way, I had been using AnyDVD which is totally awesome and does everything it promises, but when I went to pay for it after the trial period was over, I couldn't because they never sent me registration information to plug in. Nevertheless, they did respond quite quickly to my email, so there's hope yet. All I know is that if I can uninstall Ghost, I'll remain loyal to AnyDVD from now on!)

I assume you are using windows XP - If so, go to START>RUN then type in MSCONFIG and press ENTER. In the resultant screen, select STARTUP, then from the list of startup programs, de-select the offending program.
Shut down and reboot. Hopefully , the program will not be running, in which case, you can then uninstall it.

Thanks to all who responded so quickly. I actually found the answer on an old post from Rojash (hence the advice for us to read through this stuff before posting our questions.) Anyway, right-clicking on the Icon at the toolbar and clicking on "exit" worked. I was then able to uninstall the dreaded thing. Whew!
