I am a 25 yr old prof and one of my new years resolutions is to improve my general knowledge. My geography, mathematics and knowledge of, for example, measurements, science etc is appalling. I am really keen to improve this as it is such a gremlin for me. If anyone has any suggestions of any books, courses, anything-please let me know. Any ideas very much appreciated!

doing quizzes such as www.quiz-zone.co.uk is a good aid too. I have always been quite knowledgable about certain topics but i have learnt dso much information from doing the different quizzes (which are set up in a forum type way). Our team at the local pub quiz have won two weeks in a row so.... iv learnt something.
Reading a lot and keeping abreast of current affairs by watching the news
or reading a newspaper daily is very helpful.

If you want to improve your general knowledge quickly, one of the best books out there at the moment is 'How To Become A Quizzing Genius' by Jamie Miller, which I bought at this link: http://www.quiz-genius.com/Book.html. The book recently gained attention in the media when it was revealed students were using the book to improve their exam scores!

However, making sure you have a good reference book for facts can also be helpful. Media URL: http://www.quiz-genius.com/Book.html
