I have recently heard that if you unlock a mobile via a code you get really poor reception. Where as the correct way to do it is via the service box. Is this true?

NO, this is not the case at all. My phones have been unlocked using codes I found on the net and they work fine.

What you have to consider though is if you live in an area where Vodafone and Orange have good reception, unlocking a phone to use O2 or Virgin doesn't guarantee good reception if reception is generally poor in that area.

Its not so . Unlocking the mobile with code provides good solution ..
