I use vinegar, it does an excellent job but you do have to leave the windows open for a while as it smells like a chip shop lol
Old newspaper. Just damp it and it will clean as good as new.

I asked my window cleaner what he uses, and he said diluted car screen wash. He uses that with a rubber 'scraper' and then polishes the glass with a dry cloth. Of course, you'd have to buy it, but it would last for ages.
I use soapy water and newspaper
My window cleaner said fairy liquid and newspaper.
My window cleaner uses dilute W/up Liquid (Fairy) the rubber blade and a scrim to finish. Does a good job.

The newspaper is for us who are not quick enough with a blade..

If you get a stain on clothing, dab it with cold water immediately before the next wash.
