Are paid online surveys dodgy?

That's my question really. I keep seeing adverts for research companies that pay you for answering questions about your life and opinions. Some of them sound quite tempting. But are they for real or are they scams?
Thanks.

I am also a member of IPSOS sometimes you are refused as not required to complete some surveys, but your money adds up then they pay you, also send surveys to home and send shopping vouchers out, again no cost to me.

My daughter pays for her makeup and toiletries by using IPSOS and something called 'juicy brain' or something like that. She's collected well over 100 in the past year.
And by a stroke of luck, last year I completed one of the juicy brain surveys and won a 100 amazon voucher. I bought a several dozen books for my children in Moldova and Amazon matched that by donating more!
