Nigel Bruce played Dr John Watson in the series of films you refer to.
Mrs Hudson and Professor Moriarty didn't feature in all of the films and might have been played by different actors. (I've not checked). Lionel Atwill played Moriarty in at least one film and Mary Gordon played Mrs Hudson on several occasions. For full cast listings, start here and click on the relevant films:

PS: I watched the previous editions of 'Sherlock' but I gave it a miss tonight because I knew that I'd be concentrating on answering questions on here. However I might well catch up on it on iPlayer during the coming week. I wouldn't rate it as the greatest drama series that the BBC has ever commissioned but it's certainly better than most of the new stuff that we get to see.

I liked it but found the question of what Moriarty was trying to get Sherlock to stop doing went over my head.
Moriarty was mentioned in an earlier episode but didn't feature enough to be so intent on distroying Sherlock.
As far as I could tell Sherlock wasn't investigating him and before the one mention earlier hadn't even heard of him.
Otherwise a very good show.

I have never read the books or been that interested in the films or tv adaptations - except one about 8 years ago one christmas - so I thought I would not bother - so glad I changed my mind. It was brilliant - have not seen all of last nights finale yet but I cannot wait to watch the rest this evening
