Should an adulterous ex-con REALLY be so worried about letting gay couples into his home?
Is it really his kids who he's worried about?
What does he think might happen?

My neighbours grandson often visits him and occasionally the lad and I chat over the fence about cars, motor bikes, school etc. He is a polite, friendly boy. A few months ago a group of lads from a nearby town paid us a visit and started throwing stones at a few houses, mine included. Who was at the front of this crowd ? my young friend.

It's not like there are hundreds of thousands of same-sex couples waiting to adopt children. The figures are miniscule.
When I was growing up, the idea of a mixed race couple was taboo. Now it's an irrelevence. Furthermore back in the 70s, I remember bi-racial kids being a novelty (but not bullied).
Now look at where we are - there are many bi-racial celebrities and successful members of society...I don't see them as being sacrificial lambs.
The same may very well be said of children of same-sex parents in years to come.

SP, to answer your question.
Its in his belief, he cannot see (rightly or wrongly) how a gay couple can properly bring up a chlid. does seem a bit pot/kettle/black in this case though !
I wonder what would be the reation to a muslim saying this? Afterall they depsise homosexulas to the nth degree. We never seem to get the lefties on this site maoning about them do we ?

Ah but there's the pickle...you know how Muslims are supposed to be as 'anti-gay' as Christians? Well, the weird thing is - whenever you read about someone having a beef about the gays...it's always the Christians.
If it's not Christian registrars refusing to perform civil ceremonies, it Christian B&B owners refusing to let gay couples stay at their holiday homes.
And if it's not that, it's Christian foster parents not wanting gay couples in their homes.
I mean, I'm sure there ARE Muslims who are as bigoted as their Christian equivalents...but for the life of me, the only story I can remember recently is the one about the school iibrary that was forced to remove books which depicted same sex marriages as 'normal' and unfortunately for your argument - the Christians were up there with the Muslims on that one too!

There are Muslim gay people too, come to mention it, and they have a dreadful time of it - I know of more than one gay young man who married just because that was the cultural expectation of his family, and couldn't live with the lie. He didn't come out for years - the sin he felt he was committing was too hard to live with. (This is nothing to do with the OP but it happens.)
Re the OP - my view is that the vicar is being selective with his views and behaviour and as others say, ignoring his own transgressions. What was it in the Bible about removing the mote from your own eye, so you can see others more clearly?
