The bottom line for me is that it tastes foul - especially in 'no added sugar' squash.

I did read in the paper a couple of weeks ago they've found out officially it creates formaldehyde and another toxin as had been claimed for decades, but no sign of banning it regardless as it makes companies a fortune as a lot cheaper than sugar. Labour changed the law allowing it in all drinks rather than diet drinks and it's now a heck of a job reading every bottle to try and avoid it.
There's this from Dr. Mercola :-

It's another one of these "benefits outweigh the risk" situations. If we worried about the side-effects of everything, we'd never go out of the door (and then the ceiling would fall in).
wyzard, you say in one place that you teach your kids to question everything then you post info on aspartame from one biased site????
Don't get me wrong, i hate the stuff myself and think it tastes foul too, all the artificial sweeteners do to me, but to trust one site????

I went onto sweetners a few years ago as a dieting thing.

I kept getting headaches on a daily basis and when I finally twigged it was the aspartame and stopped them the headaches stopped as well.

I won't touch sweetners now, stick to the real thing, just try to have it in moderation or go without.
I've been a diabetic for over 30 years and in all that time I've used sweeteners. whether it be saccharine or aspartame, soo I must have consumed tons of the stuff. Its made things a lot tastier for me and I haven't had any side effects in all that time.
Its easy to blame something for your ailments, but who knows? you probably would have got the ailments anyway.
Pass the sweetener - - - - -
