should girls who cry rape be named and shamed then sent to prison?

i know we have had this before.

its happening in my extended family at the mo and i just want to kick the crap out of this girl then put it in the paper to tell everyone.

Not unless it can be proved beyond the merest doubt she has lied. In 98% of cases there is no real proof of rape either way. There may be forensic proof of intercourse, but not whether it was consensual.
It is hard enough to bring a guilty rapist to prosecution, without putting that guillotine over victims heads.

I agree totally with hc4361. unless you can be totally sure it was a lie then no they shouldnt be named, but then the accused shouldnt be named either until they are found guilty

A man accused of rape has no anonimity so why shouldn't his accuser also be named?

A man falsely accused of rape has to live with that for the rest of his life.........mud sticks

A woman who falsely accuses a man of rape should be named and shamed to keep men away from her in future so that it doesn't happen again

trouble is it isn't like theft or other crimes where there can be a definitive decision...there are a whole raft of cases where it really does come down to a jury deciding who to believe...It is one crime where the verdict of not guilty may not prove innocence merely the jury were not convinced...But .There will always be a few cases where evidence of a dishonest accusation can be backed up with evidence.... maybe the woman concerned will boast to a friend...or later admit to lying....in these cases surely it merits a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice or perjury and she should be tried accordingly...

I really believe BOTH parties should be named. It is not unusual for a rapist to be convicted because other victims have come forward after the publicity. In some cases these victims had reported the rape perhaps years before but it hadn't been tied to the present case (rapist a stranger, victim traumatised, etc).
Sometimes the rape occurred many years ago and it gives other victims the momentum to come forward with their own evidence after years of silence. Many paedophiles have been caught this way.
Likewise, some 'sick' women will cry rape many times over, or threaten to. This gives their victims the chance to have their say, too.

If it can be proven beyond any doubt the victim - male or female ( yes men have cried rape) then they should be imprisoned, or sectioned, depending on their mental health.

the person in question has not officialy made a complaint about the man .but she has told her family that she has reported it.her brothers are out for blood and the poor man is s**t scared.
there are text messages to her freinds saying"im going to have **** tonight" and stuff like that.
she has caused her family so much upset and greif.
