The Circus is in town with lyons, horses. bears, trapeez ect,and I sugested to my daughter I'd take my two g/children, 4 and 6 years old,
thinking they'd love it.
She was adament they did not go, she doesn't like the idea of animals used to entertain people. What are your views on this?

I've already made my views clear about animal acts in circuses. However I'll try to give you a positive suggestion. A previous post of yours (referring to Barleylands) suggests that you might be in Essex. If so, you should take your grandkids, on Saturday 18th September, to the Princes Theatre in Clacton. There they can learn what circus acts and live theatre are all about.

You're right its not entertainment is it? I too thought there were strict rules about using wild animals. but the poster looks soo appealing with these cute animals.
I'm looking at it now, You're right NO bears, (my mistake) but there ARE Tigers, Camels, Zebra's, Horses,

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Jem.

If you check out my earlier link, you'll see that it refers specifically to the cruelty of the (so-called) 'Great British Circus'.

However I still recommend a visit to the Princes Theatre, Clacton (as above). If you do decide to go, book early in order to get seats near to the front. (I've been to the Princes Theatre on several occasions. It's one of the many council-run facilities across the UK that brings live theatre to communities which wouldn't otherwise be able to host it. I love it for that, but I still hate to be seated near to the back!).
I would never take my children/granchildren to a circus that had animals!
I have no moral objection to the circus. I hated it as a kid and will not go. When I taught grade school we NEVER went to the circus. The clowns freak me out and it is too stimulating for me and would make me anxious to be exposed to all that commotion.

As you all may have guessed we won't be going to the Circus. Thankyou for all your comments.
However we are now going to the theatre on Friday to see one of their fav TV characters "The Gruffalo" a scary monster (I'm scared already)
