Using this logic - Ian Wright, excellent footballer, becomes excellent TV presenter.
The result - Ian Wright, who has no need of a personality, an element of personality, and the ability to hold an intelligent conversation in order to play football, is put on the TV, and is proven to have none of the basic slills and attributes outlined.
The BBC tries desparatly to market him as a 'personality' - a contradiction in terms if iver there was one - and his TV days are finally numbered as he becomes more uselss and annoying byu the day.

Twas ever thus. Some mover and shaker in high media circles decides someone is 'witty', or worse still, 'a personality' and they are inflicted on us until we die if their overexposure.
