Stopping service messages on my mobile?

Please could anyone tell me how I can stop these nuisance messages? I am with O2 and never had them until the last few days. I have never subscribed to anything so dont know how they've got my number! Thanks

It's an Ofcom rule that all such service providers should cease sending you messages if you text the word 'STOP' back to the originating number.
