I have a Dracaena lucky log which is just like a small logof wood, I bought it from Tenerife and rhe instructions tell you to scrape the wax off one end and put in a container, and to be watered every day. Can anyone tell me if it is supposed to smell as mine stinks and I change the water every day. They say you should have shoots from the the side after 41 to 60 days yet mine is showing no signs of anything. Anybody have any suggestions

Try cutting a small piece of the end and try again, but only keep it damp, not soaking.

That sounds suspiciously like you have a small rotten bit of wood sitting in a dish,
maybe a not-so-lucky log.
