He was my idol, posters all over bedroom, saw him at Manchester, I think Apollo or Hippodrome. I'm well retired now but I still love Singing the Blues and can remember all the words to his records, great to see him tonight on the One Show. Don't think much of the new presenters, rather have Gabby and co, but give them a chance they might wear in.
I preferred T/Steele's version of singing the blues than Guy Mitchell's.

..one thing (amongst others) that I love about Tommy Steele is his openness - literally.
He had a huge mansion house near Richmond but the gates were always wide open and apparently he welcomed visitors.
